Many discussions have been centred on the rapid rise in inflation and the high cost of living in Africa. Majority of the stakeholders have attributed inflation in African countries to the Russian- Ukraine war. However, even though the Russian-Ukraine war could have exacerbated the inflation situation in Africa, it is fundamental to discuss other factors that have long contributed to the rise of inflation in sub-saharan countries such as lack of strong monetary policy , lack of structural and regulatory reforms in the agricultural sector as well as the lack of public financial management. There is need to have these discussions in order to find viable solutions and relevant policies to mitigate the inflation situation in African countries.
